Standing Spinal Rotation

Instructions

  • Stand tall near a wall
  • Step forward with the foot nearest the wall – about 12  inches
  • Rotate your torso towards the wall 
  • Use your hands on the wall to actively assist your rotation
  • When you are as far as you can go, press into the wall with your hands and, gently (10-25% effort), reverse the rotational force in the other direction and resist with your hands
  • Take a deep breath, and as you let it out, reverse the rotational direction again and see if you can go deeper into your initial rotation.
  •  Repeat the process 3 times, and return to your initial position
  • Turn 180 degrees and repeat to the other side
